My Top 10 Most Anticipated Albums of 2016

Ten albums I am most looking forward to listening to in 2016. Some of these are definitely confirmed for 2016, some of them are just heavily rumoured, some have titles, some don’t. All in all, if this goes to plan, 2016 should be an extremely interesting year for music

10 – Tool – TBA
Just get it out already. 2015 has been the year that anticipation for Tools new album has declined and been replaced as a running joke.

9 – The Smashing Pumpkins – TBA
At one time Smashing Pumpkins were my favourite band. They’ve released some fantastic albums, yet the last was lacking quite a bit. Hopefully this new release will be a return to form.

8 – SIA – This Is Acting
I have tremendous respect for SIA, a fantastic songwriter and singer that really blew every other female pop artists out of the water with her last releases.

7 – RHCP – TBA
With RHCP headlining a range of festivals next year (leeds/reading) it is highly likely that their hotly anticipated next album will be imminent soon.

6 – MGMT – TBA
MGMT haven’t really put a step wrong, so why wouldn’t you be anticipating their next release.

5 – Radiohead – TBA
Like The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead’s last release wasn’t too great (in my opinion anyway). Radiohead are a fantastic band so I hope they also release something great in 2016.

4 – Frank Ocean – Boys Don’t Cry
Frank Ocean’s debut ‘Channel Orange’ was a massive critical success in 2012, and therefore his next album is going to be watched by many.

3 – Kanye West – SWISH
Either you love Kanye or hate him. Kanye’s last album in my opinion had some excellent songs, therefore I cannot wait for SWISH.

2 – Biffy Clyro – TBA
They’re my favourite band, so of course im anticipating their next release, which was actually penned for the end of 2015.

1 – Gorillaz – TBA
Finally … Damon Albarn has just done a Blur album, finished a few solo records (all of which were critical successes), so it feel like the right time for him to get back to the fantastic Gorillaz.
