Artist – Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes
Album – Blossom (2015)

Check it out –

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes are the most recent project formed by Gallows and Pure Love lead vocalist Frank Carter. Frank was known for his aggressive and engaging live performance style whilst in the band Gallows. After leaving due to artistic differences Frank formed Pure Love, which had a much more chilled out tone. Pure Love lasted for only one album and one E.P till Frank ventured back to his older roots with The Rattlesnakes, a far heavier and passionate sound. After a string of intimate performances at smaller venues Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes are ready to release their first album ‘Blossom’.

After my initial listen through of this album I certainly felt that that Gallows sound had been incorporated, which obviously it would do, as the Gallows sound is Frank Carter’s sound. By this sound I basically mean the aggressive stressed vocal style Frank delivers and the simplistic but effective/memorable guitar riffs, drums beats and basslines, simplistic like punk but with the heavy sound that comes from hardcore. To add to the sense of anger and passion within each song the recording of songs such as ‘Juggernaut’ and ‘Loss’ carries on after the music has finished to capture Franks (planned or unplanned) gasps for air, expletives and often spitting. Personal favourites of mine would have to be the tracks ‘Paradise’, as I feel it encapsulates the bands tone perfectly (especially the recording after the song) and the track ‘I Hate You’, for its contrast of a more classic rock/Feeling Good – Muse style music, but mixed with Franks harsh vocal style and lyrics.

Blossom is another project Frank Carter has created and put all his energy in, it can be widely known now that Frank doesn’t blag in his art. Blossom is a fantastic album, every lyric passionately sung, with music in its simplicity to work as a base for Frank.
